The Awakening of Zabamaru
Following the destruction of the phylactery, Oberyn experienced a visceral vision. He saw a thousand-mile-wide eye beneath a pitch-black ocean and heard the wailing of millions of souls. His sword, having consumed the soul within the phylactery, transformed .
The Tooth of the Laughing Prophet (Zabamaru) is no longer dormant. It has awakened with terrifying new properties:
Sentience: The sword now laughs and hungers for blood.
Reach: It can uncoil into a segmented whip-sword with a 60-foot reach.
Heaven’s Punchline: On a critical hit, a translucent laughing demon strikes a second time for massive psychic and fire damage.
The Vertical Laboratory
The party pressed forward into a massive vertical chamber filled with glass cylinders containing distorted bodies—crossbreeds of aberrations and divine relics. Lightning arced between tanks made of Void Glass, a material Tim Patty identified as crystallized nothingness capable of reflecting magic. With a stroke of genius (Natural 20 on History), Tim deduced the recipe to craft a Spellguard Shield using Void Glass and Snail Flail shells .
Stevia’s Greased Adventure
Searching for a way forward, the party found a tight, fleshy tunnel pulsating like an artery. It was too small for the others, so Stevia volunteered to explore it.
The Prep: The party debated using mayonnaise to lubricate the bard but settled on oil for better viscosity .
The Crawl: Stevia slid through the claustrophobic, pulsating tube, eventually finding the corpse of a dwarf ("Farcical's First Guard"). She looted a Belt of Dwarvenkind from the body before squeezing into a control room .
The Button: Faced with 10,000 flashing buttons, Stevia "Magic Eye'd" the room, finding a pattern in the chaos. She synced her rhythm to the city's heartbeat (Boom Boom Pow style) and slammed a pink button, blowing open the pipes to let the rest of the party in .
Ambush of the Star Spawn
Stevia's explosive entrance released two Star Spawn Manglers and a Mirror Shade.
Combat Highlights:
Grim utilized his stealth to snipe a Mangler, blowing out its light with a single, high-damage shot.
Oberyn tested his new range, striking a Mirror Shade from across the room and dealing nearly 60 damage in a single round .
Tim Down: A Star Spawn Mangler unleashed a flurry of six claw attacks against Tim Patty. Despite a Silvery Barbs attempt, five attacks connected, dealing massive damage and dropping Tim to 0 HP instantly .
The Beer Bong Heal: With Tim dying on the floor, the party didn't hesitate. They force-fed him two Supreme Healing Potions at once (essentially beer-bonging him back to life), restoring him to full health instantly .
The Clone Choir
Before reaching the final boss, the group passed through a cathedral-sized chamber where clones in vats hummed a eerie melody to heal Thaddeus. The party mercy-killed the clones to disrupt the healing signal, releasing their souls into the walls .
